### Markov Numbers and Cluster Algebras

Seminar

27th October 2017, 4:30 pm – 5:40 pm

Howard House, 4th Floor Seminar Room

Markov Numbers are solutions to a Diophantine equation Markov ‘discovered’ during his masters’ thesis about quadratic forms. Surprisingly these numbers turn up in a huge range of topics, from combinatorics to number theory to hyperbolic geometry. In this talk I will introduce just one of these topics, namely cluster algebras, and hope to show their application to Markov Numbers.
