Are normal patterns or alpha patterns easier for you?

Ive seen lots of different people have a different opinion on which is easier to make. Some say alpha and some say normal patterns. For me, alphas are easier to make, than normal patterns, but alphas take longer 😭

In alpha patterns it depends how many color changes it has, in normal patterns it depends how thick it is, tbh I don't prefer something because it depends on wha I want to do, I don't find each type easier/harder

i can make normals, but i much prefer alphas, also i'm really really bad at making normals and honestly i find alphas easier

Normals for me. I just don't like doing the colour switches in alphas. I feel like alphas are more difficult to make look nice.

@halokiwi that’s true, you have to be very careful in alphas and keep your knot tension consistent. Mistakes are much easier to hide in normal patterns as well!!

I think normals are easier because there is always multiple ways to segment knot them and also you don't have to look at the pattern as much since they repeat. I hate having to look at the rows all the time in alphas but they're so pretty so it's worth it 😍

Alphas are way easier for me. My normals are usually okay, but sometimes it’s so hard to get the knot tension right and I find myself having to redo knots often, which never really happens to me on alphas. Alphas definitely take longer and are more tedious, but the finished result makes it worth the time for me.

I actually find that both normals and alphas are about the same for me! It’s just alphas take forever. It does make it harder when your strings are tangled!

Alphas are quite easy for me if they don't have a lot of little color changes (if you know what i mean) but abstract normal patterns are quite easy too so it really depends

I personally find alphas very difficult but i am great at making normal patterns, but i also haven't made many alphas so i don't have that much practice. I'm sure that like with most things, i could get better at alphas with more practice and time, but i do think that for a begginner, normal patterns are the way to go!

I get confused with normal patterns pretty easily. I find that alphas are much easier to keep track of. Hell, sometimes all I need is just an image and I can make an alpha pattern from it.
