@whoistaji you would have to recreate the pattern from scratch to add the straight edges. Knots cannot be changed in variation. Attention! Don't post the pattern if you do. Already existing patterns with added straight edges are not accepted.
You could also take a screenshot of the pattern and draw the changed knots/added strings into it.
how can one modify the bracelet book knots. i tried making a variation for a pattern but it wont let me change the knots or add strings. would i have to do it manually (i would do it but it gets tedious)
@BoundFrnds some people find fb and bf knots more difficult to tie than other knots. Maybe it is that. In this case I would recommend practicing these knots specifically.
The pattern number you mentioned does not exist. I think you might have opened the pattern in the generator to add a variation/change the colours. If you did that there should be a message 'This pattern already exists as #, but can be added as its variation.' The # should tell you the real number of that pattern. The number you gave is just the number the pattern gets in the generator, not the actual number of the pattern. Could you tell me the actual number? I'd like to check it out to see, if there is something special about the pattern.
I just tried this technique and it may just be me, but my pattern came out wonky. The pattern that I was doing was 4229719. I added an extra sting on both sides and did my FB knots and BF knots, but the diamond shape doesn't come out like a diamond. Is it because the strings are being pulled into many directions? By the way, the directions in the tutorial and notes and the visuals are spot on. Everything makes sense.... so thank you for breaking everything down. Most likely it's something that I'm doing or not doing. Any suggestions?
@jaz_rose I'd say you need to practice your bf and fb knots so they are more consistent, make sure you are not pulling the bracelet to either side while knotting and also making sure you always do 2 bf or fb knots if it's an alpha (in a normal it's just one).
