@Golden137 only (new) original patterns (that don't exceed 200 rows) are guarantied to have matching strings.
Patterns are not designed with all possible variations in mind. If someone adds a variation with a different string order, the strings sometimes do not match. We moderators, the original creator of the pattern or the person adding the variation can't do anything about it. The only thing the person adding the variation could do is to recreate the pattern from scratch and add additional repetitions until the strings match. This is lots of effort and not something that would be fair to require from the users. Sometimes the knotting structure would also need to be changed to get the desired look. This would make the pattern a new pattern and not a variation. It would be too similar to the original pattern and not acceptable.
For example in this pattern you would need to change the following knots to make the variation you picked work out - row 20, knot 3 to bf - row 20, knot 5 to fb - row 48, knot 3 to bf - row 48, knot 5 to fb
You can tell that the strings do not match by the fact that repetitions in the variation look different from each other despite looking the same in the original pattern. You can also look at the string order in the beginning and end of the pattern if you are unsure.
I chose variation #337234 and it was a challenge! Who checks these variations? The top and bottom string positions don’t match so now I’ve got a weird triangle in my bracelet cause I didn’t know it was cursed until I got to line 56
i don’t know if someone has mentioned this yet, but i think there is a mistake in row 41. one of the knots does not match the other side. i love this pattern though 💕
