narcissus	3 years ago by narcissus @bigbeluga.... oh what an idiot I am! pff it's super easy!! idk if you are on mobile or pc but I would suggest pc probably?? if you hover over your icon and username in the top right corner of the screen there will be a tab labeled "Create Patterns". Click on that and you will two different options. "Normal" and "Alpha". Click on "Alpha" (new pattern) and from there you can either draw one by switching through the tabs or use an image and it will do its best to create a pixelated version of that. You can change the colors. Only problem I learned is that you can't use too similar of colors so try to make them really different. Either they won't be accepted by the website itself or if it passes through then moderators will tell you. Basically when you finish making your pattern it will give you warnings. It's really easy to learn, so you'll get a hang of it, I believe I saw a video about it but I kind of figured if out by just playing around with it. I'll just link it to you privately because I can't here lol 😄

narcissus	3 years ago by narcissus @bigbeluga, I learned by watching a variety of channels. But the channel that helped me by far the most was MashaKnots. In alphas we use just forward and backward knots, and for me personally it was an easy concept to learn. The --> arrow is a forward knot and <-- is a backward. These arrows dictate how we knot. It's kind of like a zigzag back and forth. You go from the left to right with forward arrows then right to left with backward arrows and so on, It just keeps going like that. I think this is the easy part, but actually switching colors so we can create the pattern is a bit tricky. Base strings are those strings that are popping out at the top of the pattern and you won't actually see them. But the different colored circles are the knots. I previously never made any bracelets, so I'm sure having experience would totally make it easier. I think the most difficult aspect is just the color switches. MashaKnots does a really great job at explaining everything. Although the first time watching I think my head exploded... I just kept trying and it truly isn't that difficult to make them once you understand. I also made the mistake of going for big patterns right away. I would suggest going for smaller patterns with less color switches! I think Alex's Innovations also does a pretty good job with explaining: This was my Aha! moment with alphas: Turns out I can't include any links so I can try to privately chat them to you. And further on when you want to develop new methods in your alpha making I seriously recommend MashaKnots. She teaches you how to start the bracelets with Teardrop loops, triangle ends etc. Just keep trying, you can totally do it! And sorry for my probably horrible explanation, I am still not the best at alphas! 😊 😊 It is really worth learning how to make them, the patterns are pretty much endless and so cute!!!!

narcissus	3 years ago by narcissus my hopes with this pattern was to create a pattern small enough to make a ring... but still cute. I had just seen a tutorial on friendship rings (normal) and I want to try it out with alphas! 😊
