Hoo boy... Where to even start? 🤔

I've always been terrible at goodbyes. This was to the extent that my older half siblings were apparently tasked with cloistering me away in the cellar whenever it was time for any company we may have been entertaining at the house to depart, since reportedly whenever I was bade farewell, I would do a little dance and then run full-tilt boogie, head first into the wall. I have no recollection of any of this, but the marks on my head and (I presume, without extensive remodeling...) my ancestral home remain.

I walked with a slight limp for a few weeks after a merry round of playing "Indiana Jones escapes the temple" with the garage door opener went awry. In the days before safety sensors (pft, this soft, spoiled generation...), my ankle was trapped under the unrelenting door as I screamed in a most unmanly, un-Dr. Jones-ish manner until I was rescued.

My mother, having clearly experienced a colossal error in judgment, allowed a salon proprietor to give me a perm when I was in sixth grade (his sales pitch something to the effect of how much more handsome I'd be if my hair had more "volume"). While the worst part of the ordeal was the smell (like burned plastic dipped in pool water, and no amount of shampoo could make it fade), I indelibly recall not getting picked for either side for intramural kickball, breaking down in tears in the middle of social studies, getting stood up by the only two other kids I invited to my birthday party, and learning most of the homophobic slurs in my vocabulary during that ignominious period. Truly, not all wounds are physical. 😭

@GiuseppeK Oh my, so that hairdresser was really out for you 😭 Interesting how times have changed because perms are pretty common to get nowadays (at least where I am)

I would say that my favorite childhood toys were a decent collection of dolls, probably some random rock, and the sticks of my neighbor’s backyard as we would always make ourself sturdy fortresses! I don’t quite know what inspired it or how we pulled it off but I have fond memories of sitting in my structure of tree branches insulated by leaves that were weaved in with smaller twigs. These things lasted around half a year too, we had a whole civilization in their backyard lol

@blackcat79 While I doubt he'd've even remembered me, I do recall paying a reluctant visit to my hometown many years later, and observing that his place of business had been shuttered. I wondered whatever became of him? Had he passed on? If so, I sincerely hoped that Perdition smells like perms. 🔥

Fear not, though--like the might Phoenix, from the ashes of that scholastic year, a new boy arose: one with straight hair and a winning attitude. A new boy who, tragically, was just as unpopular as the old one 😢. However, I do take accountability enough to not blame the salon proprietor, wherever he may be now, for my lack of popularity. All he did was pour gas on that particular fire.

@blackcat79 It may have been a "random rock" to most anyone else, but it sounds as though you were wise enough to never take such a thing for granite.

(My sediments exactly. 👍)

Hart Island, New York City. Although I acknowledge there's not much to see, so long as I've known about the place and its morbidly fascinating history, I've wanted to pay a visit just to stroll the grounds in contemplative silence. While it *is* theoretically possible to visit, legal opportunities to do so seem few and far between, and are probably limited only to Bronx residents, or someone who can prove with documentation that they have kin interred there. I believe it now qualifies for the current game category, since it somewhat recently changed jurisdiction from the Department of Corrections to Parks & Rec (thanks, University of Wikipedia 👍).

Ko Tapu, an iconic limestone karst pinnacle in Phang Nga Bay, Thailand. It was immortalized in an old James Bond movie, and well... fanboy's gonna fanboy.

Moorooduc Quarry Flora and Fauna Reserve in Mt. Eliza, Australia. Although I've actually been there once, it feels as though I have unfinished business. I'd like to, at the very least, get a good look at the pond, if it's not possible to swim any longer (I hear tell it had been a popular swimming hole until some spoilsports fenced it off). It was the filming location for a movie called FROG DREAMING that's haunted me since I was very young, and it probably bears the most responsibility for my mild case of submechanophobia. When I had just managed to stumble upon the site, it was nearly full-on dark, so I was only able to catch glimpses through the trees at the tops of the cliffs overlooking the water, and getting back to the guesthouse in the dark (and then the rain) was adventure enough for one day.

#209076 (specifically the gryphon, although I ADORE all of their patterns), #177427 , #210270 . I'm really sad that I can't make alphas and although I know in theory it would be easy, I'm too loyal to normals. three of your favorite aquatic animals?
