While perhaps not "Foxy" specifically (had to look that up), I believe that sort of anxiety is part of the formative human experience. Back in my day, most of my contemporaries were concerned about the likes of a different Freddy (Krueger) or Jason Voorhees lurking in their closet. As for me, having a mother who A: refused to allow horror after circa 1965 in the home (so I only had the vaguest notions of what Freddy's deal was) and B: all about the musicals, I lived in a state of constant terror of Fruma Sarah from FIDDLER ON THE ROOF hiding in mine...

Somewhat. I remember attending the midnight Thursday premiere of ROCKY BALBOA, and the moment Sly Stallone appeared in character, it felt like seeing an old friend we hadn't seen in years. I grew up with that series, and since I wasn't getting any younger, it was groovy to see ole Rocky still had one more round in him.When he gave his son a pep talk, it felt like he was talking directly to me. And while the credits were rolling and the audience got one last look at Stallone with his back to the camera, looking out at the city skyline from the top of the art museum steps with the snow falling all around, it was bittersweet--a story decades in the making, finally with a satisfying conclusion. |
