I love the extra string to equal out the stripes, its such a neat detail! Thank you for including it. I'm going to make it for a friend who just recently came out for pride month! ❤️
If you want to do a loop, which seems to be what you want to do based on your post on reddit, I recommend pattern #13099 instead. It will look the same, but has an even amount of strings for all colours. There is a variation by @Trombone where you can see how to tie that pattern as a flag with five stripes.
