Finished 9/18/2025! This pattern is unforgiving. Probably didn't help that I used some of my scrap strings, which made the beginning wonky but didn't affect it much afterwards. I haven't made a standard daisy chain bracelet before, and having that practice might have helped as well. Some tips that I hope will help others: โ If your basics aren't solid, every mistake will stand out here. Be mindful of your knot tension and placement. โ I recommend making the outermost knots first in every row and then working your way in. Especially on the odd numbered rows where you're tying the border. So when you start making the ghost on row 3, knot the black strings first, then the white ones. This helps keep the border even. โ Another note on row 3; I think it's better to make the white knot on the right as a backward knot instead of a forward knot. I think it helps structurally. โ I found it helpful in row 4 to make the outer knots first so that they're done when you make the center knot that brings both sides together. When you make the center knot, make sure it's secure and placed where you want. โ When knotting from rows 11 on (the links between ghosts, mine are 8 knots long), pay attention to your knot tension. I started by tying these really tight, and it makes the chain-links really stiff. Maybe some wear or a pass through the washing machine would make it soften up and round out like typical daisy chain bracelets, but I can't say for sure. When I started tying them looser, they tended to round out naturally. I had to brute force the first one. I figured out a way that uses the strings more evenly, keeps the white strings from poking through the black border, and makes the back prettier. I can't submit it as a new pattern to the site, but here's the written out pattern. If you copy-paste it into the pattern creator, it'll generate the diagram. fb,0,0,bf 0,0,0 f,f,b,b b,f,f fb,fb,bf,bf f,b,b fb,f,b,bf bf,f,fb fb,b,f,bf bf,b,fb fb,0,0,bf 0,0,0 fb,0,0,bf 0,0,0 fb,0,0,bf 0,0,0 |
