I used a D-ring swivel lobster clasp and just twinned the yarn around the base of the D-ring and used the pattern as suggested.

Love this pattern. I changed it a bit ( took away the repetitive aspect of it and turned it into a keychain. The keychain is about 20 cm with twisted braid at the end
