@bubbles Thanks! Yeah, its a pretty similar idea to alpha color changes. I probably got the technique from Masha (Changing Colors in a Normal Pattern) or Alex's Innovations (How to replace broken strings). I used scrap threads to make this long one.

@Mes_07 if you know how many rows you would need for a normal pattern of the perfect length, you can use that to calculate how many extra rows you would need to do in addition to the two repeats you did. You could for example make the triangle ends like @theilia did to get some extra rows in or make the twisted part between the two repeats longer.
