@bythebay when you do the full fb/bf knots on the side to make the chains, you put think object like a thin dowel in between it. So let's say on the left side when your making a chain, after a fb knot, you put the dowel in between and do a second fb knot so the loop stays put. Then you remove the object you put and side the knot up and the little loop will stay. I hope this makes sense, let me know if it doesnt! I am working on doing this right now so I'm figuring it out as I go. I also recommend one of the tutorials that say how to do frilly edges on alphas. It works the same with normals.
