If you're not a gen alpha please stay, if you are a gen alpha stay too because i have a question, why is gen alpha so obsessed with needohs and tick tock?!?!? Idk if all gen alpha is like that but all of my friends are like that, they all have phones and post on tick tock they are all like "oh my goodness listen to this ASMR" and "omg look at this super rare needoh" AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT!!! I'm a gen alpha (sadly) but I'm am not like that! I just got a phone last January! My bff got a phone when she was 8! Her cousins all just got phones for Christmas including a 4 year old who has tick tock and plays Roblox (which i HATE by the way) ALL of them play Roblox and it's trash i'm sorry for rambling so much but i need to know so if anyone could answer my question please do.

I’m on the edge of both gen alpha and gen z! I’m just like you I don’t get it! Pokémon I understand, but needohs and til tock( just blaaah)I’m not allowed to get a phone until I have a job, even then it’ll never nay be a flip phone! My younger cousin got his ears pearced, and he’s only 9!!!!!!! Now I’m weird because I go Gaga over everything Sonic (well almost everything)!🫤

I could not tell you- my best guess is that over-exposure to a lot of social media from a young age exposes kids to a lot of things on the internet. Kids are also naturally overly curious and overly gullible, so they’re quicker to fall for whatever trend is being pushed by the algorithm. I definitely think that it’s a problem that should be studied more because melting your brain by the age of eight cannot be good in the long run 🙁

it’s just the glorification of overconsumption. people like the idea of being a part of something and that “something” right now is nee dohs. after a while it will be deemed “overdone” or “over” and the cycle will repeat with a new thing. i think some examples of this would be stanleys’, pop its, hydro flasks, etc ( maybe dubai chocolate idk). i believe that there is a need in today’s society to amalgamate, maybe to correct how precocious

I’m a Gen Alpha too and I totally get what you mean!!! (Although to be fair I love needohs 😂), but the phone thing!!! I got a phone under a year ago and I’m not allowed social media or anything like that but my friends have like some apps that I don’t think are good for them 😂). I agree; i think its because we are exposed to it more and ‘social expectations’ or whatevs… but I’m not really sure 🤔 🤨 😂

@loveknot I agree! I’m not allowed to get a phone until I get a job, so when people ask do you have a phone I’m like no! They just look at me as if I’m some unknown creature! I really don’t get it, just because you don’t have a phone doesn’t mean we suck it just means we haven’t needed it(or in my case not allowed!)
