Way back in 8th grade someone texted me on the day of, asking if I wanted to go to the dance with them.. I managed to gaslight myself into thinking they were asking to carpool (we live really close to each other and we’d carpooled before) and asked if they needed a ride, saying I was leaving soon. They then were like no, you and me ig and I was like “oh, I already have a ride, thanks for asking!” Dang the mortification I felt reading that conversation over and being like oh wait a minute… At least I got out of it without having to straight up reject them because that wouldn’t have been fun 😭😭
