I learned to make the staircase/Chinese ladder at a summer camp I went to. I got obsessed with bracelets, and when I got home from camp, I learned the rest online.

I started with Chinese staircases at summer camp too lol, then moved to candy stripes and chevrons. About two years ago I learned how to do alphas from YouTube

My big sister taught me when I was a kid. I thought she was so cool- we had a small craft store we could walk to to buy string. I still remember her three different blue striped bracelet. ❤️ 😎 😛

I originally started making basic Chinese staircase and chevron patterns, before I saw the tutorials on YouTube and this site and eventually got more and more into it. Surprisingly, I’ve never actually made the candy stripe bracelet, which is what you usually make as a beginner 😂

My mom taught me how to make a Chevron then i made a candy stripe from watching masha knots videos then my mom taught me how to make normal patterns then she tried to teach my how to make alphas but it didn't make sense, and then a couple months later (probably like 7) she taught me how to make alphas and now alphas are super duper easy 😜

I learned the Chinese Staircase at camp, as well as how to make the candy stripe (although incorrectly), then I went home and did absolutely nothing for a year, started a chevron for the first time around a yr later, and learned how to make 1212s and bf/fb knots when I joined this site. I'm a beginner still but a massive perfectionist so I do a LOT of undoing knots till they're "just right".

My great uncle makes friendship bracelets, and he taught me how to braid. Then I learned the candy stripe and Chinese staircase from Masha Knots (❤️❤️❤️ to her ) after my uncle sent me a bracelet kit. I didn't start making chevrons until after one of my counselors taught me at a summer camp last year. So I guess you can say it was a variety of things 😂😜. Now making patterns like #158790 though, so I've come a long way 😉

I was introduced to back in the 2010s (lol). The YMCA had a club for the kids who grew out of the child care center.I remember being taught how to do the candy stripe. I strangely wasn't able to stop it from curling, so instead I learned the chevron. I wasn't very good at finishing bracelets until these last 4-6 years. I started looking into more patterns and making matching ones for my sister, cousin, and I anytime we were reunited. I learned about bracelet book a little over 9 months ago and have been finding a wider variety of patterns to fuel my love for making bracelets again. (Haven't dipped into alphas yet) |
