As much as I'd like to be a Dr. Doolittle, it might not be sufficient to be able to verbally communicate if the critter isn't on our level intellectually. For example, it would probably be frustrating to no end to reflect on how we squandered our wish each time we encounter a strange dog, and the only thing he cares to give us is a rapid succession of "Hey!" Or subjecting ourselves to the heartache of endeavoring to assist an animal in obvious pain, and all they can tell us is "How should I know?!" when we well-meaningly inquire what's up. That is, assuming the beastie would be chill enough to permit us to lay hands on him in the first place--in the wild, getting picked up by another creature means we're about to be eaten (lots of luck convincing a panicking animal with no capacity for rational thought that we're good people). Chalk it up to cultural differences.

Reminded of the discovery and subsequent translation of the Rosetta Stone in 1799, when it was finally realized once and for all that hieroglyphics don't say anything interesting. "Hello Ramses. How are you? I am fine..."

Not certain how much I accessorize in the first place, but I'll stick with a monochromatic wardrobe. With the notable exception of the wacky Hawaiian-style shirts I'll don while peddling bracelets at the swap meet or festivals, I'm already rather Johnny Cash to begin with, anyway.

The former. If we were truly ever besties, s/he will've no doubt seen a lot worse from me (and if the tacit understanding is we're not on good terms at all any longer, it's not as though we were obligated to be Joe Cool around him/her any longer, anyway).

Absolutely the former. I've known more than enough men even older than that who never stopped exercising and studying who put folks who could be their grandchildren utterly to shame, and I do believe I'm well on the way to being one of them (you'd have to make it at least 80 to spook me). I do acknowledge that since boys who take care of themselves can age like fine whiskey, I might've gone with the former had mom gotten the daughter she wanted.

@GiuseppeK Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us lol. Regarding temperature, it largely depends on the location. Assuming that I’m home I’d rather it be too cold because then I can bundle up in a blanket, drink something warm, and craft or watch a movie. Would you rather be able to hear every conversation about you or be able to take back anything you’ve said/done?
