In addition to the innumerable silly things I believed as a kid, there were also one or two matters I *couldn't* believe.

For instance, laughably obsolete technology in current era, but there used to be a series of TV commercials for a wearable device that the elderly and the physically handicapped could use to summon help in the event of an emergency. The most infamous of which included the legendary pleadings of a little old lady lying on the bathroom floor: "I've fallen, and I can't get up!"

As a child, that commercial upset me in ways difficult to express in words. I couldn't understand why the camera guy wouldn't've helped her.

That fairies were actually visiting the little fairy houses we built into a tree stump in and it wasn’t just my neighbor sneaking over and sprinkling glitter everywhere to amuse us youngins 😄

That not washing soap fully off of your hands would leave a nasty rash. I think my parents just wanted to teach me good hand-washing skills, but the fear of a sudden rash on my hands still plagues me

That my sister was an alien fighting warrior who sneaked out in the middle of the night (8 o’clock) to keep them at bay and therefore save humanity. I never questioned this whatsoever until at least the age of 9

@bugs_b1te to be honest that is true when I was 5 I didn’t wash soap fully and it did leave a rash which took a month to recover fully

@Emmaloves ❤️

Long as I'm here again, and while I can only speculate on what must've been going through my young mind to behave this way, I've always been terrible at goodbyes. This was to the extent that one or more of my older half-siblings would be tasked with securing me in the cellar before any company we may have been entertaining at the home was about to depart. I'm informed that whenever I was told "goodbye," I would do a little dance and then run, full-tilt boogie, headfirst into a wall. I have no recollection of any of this, but the marks on my scalp and I presume, barring extensive remodeling, my ancestral home remain.
