One time I was perusing the clothing section at Target and a woman came up to me and told me that my hair was beautiful and she could picture me right up on the wall as a model. I’ve had many struggles with my hair over the years as the curly tangled mess has a mind of its own lmao. It was really heartwarming for a random stranger to go out of their way to spread a little positivity! Remember yall, your tiny acts of kindness might be seen as nothing to you but everything to someone else 🥰

The best compliments I’ve ever received are “anyone would be lucky to call you their friend, I know I’m lucky” which is something my best friend told me, and then my crush told me “I really like you, not because you’re really pretty, but because you don’t let anyone mess with your head or tell you no, and I really respect that” like when he told me that, I literally wanted to cry tears of joy, mainly because I thought he would never like me, especially since I’ve been insecure about my looks forever because I’m literally the only girl in the year who doesn’t wear makeup. It touched me that for once, a boy liked me because of who I am as a person, not for my face. I’m going with him to this dance in February, and I’m so excited!

once i was at my best friends house and their family friends came over. they have a daughter a few years older than us who has some sort of mental disorder that makes a bit slower, and i talked to her and then walked her home after and i heard her dad say to her that i had a good heart after, and wow if i didnt js melt

this one people have said to me several times, "i have never seen a person as creative and diverse as you, ", (i play the piano, draw, code, crochet, do math like a genius, create origami, am mid at videogames, do diamond paintings, can make anything diy, know how to use begleri, and pen spinnign, play soccer and basketball, and of course, make friendship bracelets. and i just take it to heart, because some people are just haters, and it just changed the way i thought about myself completely.

@GiuseppeK i wish i was, but no, i actually made 2 of my own begleri, i made 1 with hex-nuts and a big knot at each end, and another with monkey fists that have a half-inch steel core. I can do a palm switch, 2 finger roll, mic drop, around the world, piano roll, and am currently working on "up the ladder""

I'm much more of a komboloi person myself. It was a habit I picked up while homebased out of Crete and trying to blend in.I don't necessarily know the names of the few manipulations I've mastered, but I've been satisfied with being able to pull off repeats with any combination of index, middle and ring fingers, and just as capable with either the left or right hand. Maybe someday I'll master something flashier, but no real hurry. After all, stressing out over komboloi would be counterproductive and more than a little ironic. |
