Hi! I’ve been knotting bracelets since the American election to keep my hands from doom scrolling. I’m not wearing them and I haven’t really been paying attention to their lengths, some are very long. I have a really nice collection of long knotted bracelets now, mostly straight lines and chevrons. They’re really beautiful! I’ve been trying to think of ways to use them. Put them together in a mosaic or weave them together. Maybe they could line pictures frames? Anyone have put their beautiful bracelets to other uses? Thank you! 🎉

You could use the long bracelets as bookmarks! I think there’s plenty of other uses but I can’t think of more right know. 😅

If you own a dog, I’ve seen some people attach bracelets to use as dog leashes. I also use crimp ends to make my longer bracelets into choker necklaces. Hope that’s helpful!

Love these ideas! Thanks so much! Maybe a cat collar? I’ve also thought about making a big garland for a Christmas tree. I want to work up to wall hangings but the appeal to me is the mindless tying, I’ve done some diamonds and pyramids and it’s too much concentration lol. If anyone else has ideas for long straight ones keep them coming!

Too long for anklets and too short for necklaces or choker-necklaces? They could be phone straps / lanyards. Or for other things like umbrella strap / earbud lanyard / keys strap. Reading glasses cord. Ceiling fan pull-cord. Boot decorations. Book-bag decorations. I suppose it depends on their thickness and the ties situation. Fold them over and stitch them together to make lanyards / wrist-item cords. Suppose you could combine 2 or three together to make wrap-bracelets? Hope these spark some interest.

I have a few ideas: 1. Watch band: If you have a watch, you can make some watch bands (I am doing this and it's fun and nice to do. 2. Make some money: You can sell them and make some money (I know this one is not for everyone. Just a suggestion ) That was all i could think of on this moment. hope i helped you! |

I love these ideas! I’m working on making watch bands now, but that would be better for a new design and not to reuse some of the ones you’ve already made. I think a wristlet strap for keys or something would be fun; same with a lanyard! Similar to your picture frame idea, you could use the. To

^them to fill in a picture frame like art! You could also try gluing and wrapping them around a vase, or sewing a bunch together to make a throw pillow!

I think making bags out of them are so cool 😍 both tote bags and draw string bags made of mandala flowers or other patterns

you could use them as a belt if they are discreet and not too attention catchy. 🙂

@pandatimeI've made a bottle strap using crimp edge???(idk what you call that rectangle crimping piece 😭) But it works well. If you have a long normal pattern, then try making straps out of them. They look beautiful too. |

I have made chapstick holders and a box out of thread, they are larger projects but I find the results to be nice. Also I love having bracelets to give away/sell and display

Once upon a time, while deployed to an austere location and had just run out of long threads (not entirely my own fault; my vacation got extended and I simply didn't pack enough), I was satisfying the itch to make knots with the scraps available to me by making ultra-short bracelets that served a functional purpose. I had just gotten into balisong ("butterfly knife") tricks, and the rickety blade with which I'd been practicing was making audible snaps each time the handles would close up again. For the sake of my neighbors, those tiny bracelets were just enough to render the handles almost silent without affecting the play too much (I dubbed the invention "hush puppies").

A warning about using a bracelet as a cat collar (as was suggested somewhere in this thread and in a couple of other threads). Please only do that if your bracelet closes with a special carabineer that opens itself when slight force is applied, otherwise it's extremely dangerous for the cat!

I have made a TON as lanyards for car keys! Looped ends on both sides allow you to easily slide them onto a key rings. They can get dirty quick depending on how much use they get so I try to stay away from white backgrounds
