does anyone have tips for designing normal bracelets? or is there any video tutorials? i know how to make alphas since they’re basically just pixel art, but the normal patterns are more confusing for me because of the string order, knot direction, and just knowing where to make the colors go.

It can be useful to plan out your normal pattern design on a grid and then figure out how the strings need to move to achieve it. It's like a puzzle and not every design is even possible.

Could you set the sketch of your pattern, if you made one, as your profile picture or link it on imgur? This way I could judge, if it's possible and maybe give a hint.

I put it as my profile picture. I got all the inside strings to go to the right places, but I get stuck when it comes to the edge strings because they aren't making any knots. Maybe it's just the pattern I made, but both edges are backward-forward knots or forward-backward knots. In the picture, one yellow string on each side makes the first forward knot in row 1 and then stays on the edge for the rest of the section.

And why is that an issue?

Look up "straight edges technique". In this technique you use fb and bf knots at the edges to make the bracelet look straighter.

Or would you like to move the strings somewhere else?

Is the pattern you figured out now looking differently from what your imagined?

Your pattern is currently pattern #1386 with added straight edges btw. We no longer accept existing patterns with added straight edges. So if you want to post the pattern, you'd have to change something up about it.

You can tag me (@halokiwi) in your replies btw. This way I get a notification and can reply faster.

@Emmacats check out the list of patterns we no longer accept in our guidelines. Your pattern was probably on that list.

Im trying to learn how to make normal patterns, and I'm having a hard time working the generator, I understand the concept, but I can't apply it and have the pattern I'm trying to make work. Iv'e spent some time messing around on it, and I just can't figure out how to make a pattern, and get the knots to go the ways I need them to go. I understand imputing the type of knot, and it updates it, but I think I have something correct, and I test it, and I keep getting errors and can't figure what isn't adding up. Is there possibly a specific youtube tutorial or video someone can recommend? Or any general tips and help? 😅

Hi, so, I want to draw my own normal pattern since I just find the thing i want in alpha pattern (i just know the normal and don't want to learn the alpha). So, is there a way to me draw a normal pattern on this site?

@LuluQueen the closest would be the interactive normal generator, but normal pattens are a lot more complex to design than alphas. You can't really draw them. A knot can't just have any colour. Not every design is possible as a normal pattern.

Are you familiar with 1212 patterns? This would at least give you the opportunity to "draw" a normal pattern with two colours.
