Hi, to create patterns you need to be on the website, not the app. On a computer you hover over your username on the top right, on a phone you click on it. Then you select “create patterns” in the drop-down menu. Then you can choose if you want to create a normal or alpha pattern.

For designing normal patterns I can recommend this tutorial https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/34_designing-normal-patterns/ and for alphas I recommend this https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/74_how-to-tweak-patterns/

Do you have any specific questions about a specific pattern type or an issue you run into while designing?

@AlexisHehe after you create your pattern, you need to click the checkbox underneath where it says “share rights” to acknowledge it is not copyrighted, and they you click the “submit” button! it will then be reviewed by the moderator team and either accepted or declined

I really want to learn how to make patterns, because I have absolutely no idea what to do with the pattern creating thingy. Do you guys have any tutorials or tips on making them? If you do please give me the link I am desperate. 😄

@catialvi15 @KrazyKnotz has a YouTube video on her channel that shows you how to make normal patterns. If you need to visualize the pattern first, here is a really helpful normal pattern template that you could use to draw the pattern out before you make it! Here's the link for the template: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/67/b4/08/67b408c935888b6b4165d7201f11054a.jpg
You can find this on @sodapop's profile. 👍 Happy knotting!

@catialvi15 I assume you want to create a normal pattern.

If that's the case I recommend to first design it using graph paper and then putting it in the generator. Doing that can help you imagine the pattern better especially when you are just starting out with designing patterns.

This tutorial might be helpful https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/34_designing-normal-patterns/

@poppoy I don’t think I understand you, could you try to rephrase that?

@Jules_19 the easiest way to design a normal pattern is to draw it on graph paper first or to use a clickable generator (different programs for this can be found online)

If you’re asking about how to come up with ideas, all the normal patterns I’ve published I’ve either

1. Saw a different pattern and wanted to add more strings to get a different design (my #70728 is inspired by #22703, my #71167 is inspired by #19011)
or 2. Messed up while trying to make a pattern and deciding I liked that better (#70924, #71443)

So I guess that would be a “learn by doing” approach?
