I actually wanted to know the length for the base strings in alphas.Though I have already done an alpha I just want to know whether what I am doing is correct.

The length of your basestrings needs to be the length of the bracelet plus the ties and then some extra just to be safe.

I wrap it loosely around my wrist twice and it give me plenty of thread. If I am making a loop wrapping it around my wrist 4 times and then folding it in half works well.
