GiuseppeK: @Warhorse Yeah, Frank never had much of a rogue's gallery: no recurring villains...
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK and I can see where other heroes wouldn't appreciate him. Cutting down the bad guys sounds pretty brutal.
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK Sheesh, that's pretty tragic, I can see why people like him now. A heart-wrenching backstory is always a plus, so is dedicated justice.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse What sets him apart is that most Marvel "good" characters have rules/reservations about killing. Punisher has absolutely no qualms, which is why he's typically in conflict with everyone else.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse Personally, I kinda wish they'd just let him be his own thing, and not have to mix it up with the superhero types (he's human, no special powers).
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse He dedicated himself to punishing the wicked that the system can't touch. Old hat now, but he was a very novel character when he first appeared back in the '70s (in Spiderman).
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse He was a military veteran, and a loving father/caring husband who lost his family to mob violence when they went for a picnic in Central Park and stumbled upon a mob execution. Only he survived.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse I should preface this with an admission I'm a fan (he's the only Marvel character I ever cared for). I don't consider him a superhero, and to me, he's an antihero.
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK I only know what I know about Marvel from my brother's Lego sets/books and from a family friend.
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK Hm, is Punisher a good hero? I heard that he kills people, justly of course, but whats his story?
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse She was lucky I had managed to absorb enough Marvel knowledge just from cultural osmosis that I could handle most of her questions.
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK I can imagine Marvel is trying to spark new interest in their movies after the past twenty years of successful failures.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse I had a good chuckle to myself after. She knew the only character I was interested in was the Punisher, but they never called him that. So she had to clarify later who I meant ("Frank," yes--Frank).
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK With advisors like that and your "oddball" perspective you'd be unstoppable. 😂
2 hours ago
Nainika: @Warhorse thanks I did post a forum in the newbies
2 hours ago
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse For example, as I expected, I had to answer a LOT of questions for my date. One of them was explaining who one particular character was (she was in a Marvel movie that bombed, and they're still trying to make her a thing), and she really had no reason to be in the movie at all.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse And yeah, no doubt they've gone too far, and now they're trying to do damage control. Maybe it paid off, too, if it generated interest in the BIG Marvel whatever-it-is they're cooking up. After all these duds, they finally got one right.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse A different, and impartial perspective is useful. If I ever become a cartoonishly evil villain, one of my most trusted advisors will be a typical five year old: any flaws they can see in my plans will be rectified before implementation. 👍
2 hours ago
Warhorse: @Nainika To ask your question that is, I'm sure you'll get a good answer from someone.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse Everyone else seemed to enjoy it, though. It could be I'm just an oddball (but we get used to that).
Warhorse: @Nainika Hm, I'm not quite sure how you can fix that, perhaps try creating a topic in the Forums under the Newbies/Help section?
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK I'll keep you in mind when I do need proofreaders, my siblings are rather biased about my charaters and I think it would be enlightening to have a different perspective.
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK The more I hear about it, the less I like the idea of watching it. I think they went too far with the franchise. I still don't see whats not to like about the Tobey Maguire trilogy, though I recall you mentioned you haven't seen it.
Nainika: @Warhorse I tried changing but it switches back
2 hours ago
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse Maybe it was just sloppy writing or there were unresolved threads the editors never bothered to clean up, but overall, it felt like it was teaching the audience some pretty rotten lessons.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse I didn't care for it, but I realize I'm the minority. As I thought about it more after, the less I was liking it, too...
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse If you ever need a proofreader, I'd be glad to help. 👍
2 hours ago
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK Hm, speaking of the new Spiderman, how was it? I heard good stuff about it from my sister.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse And I was left thinking huh: so that's her?
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse Hm, okay--it seemed they were pretty big in the cultural zeitgeist just a couple years ago, and I think there's buzz for a third entry. All I really know about them is that "Zendaya" was/is in them, and it didn't dawn on me until the credits started rolling on the new Spiderman that she was MJ.
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK I don't think I've heard of those movies, but my character has a few plot twists up his sleeve that I can't spoil. I'm hoping to finish the final project someday, I'll keep you updated. 👍
2 hours ago
GiuseppeK: Okay, THREE Dune movies, but I don't think anyone here would've seen the one made back in 1984.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse And no, don't worry about wrong impressions--hoping I can read the final product someday.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse He sounds a bit like the character Gurney Halleck in DUNE, if he got to be the star. Now that there are at least two movies out, probably safe enough to cite him (haven't seen either yet).
Warhorse: @Nainika Normal or Alpha? If its normal, then to get rid of the color you just change it to a different one, if you mean a whole string then I'm pretty sure you can just delete it in the editing box.
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK He's a mystery to the rest of the world as well, but he was given the job because he grew up there and proved he was trustworthy. Yeah, he's a pretty scary person too. The dragons and werewolf-like creatures are only some of the creatures in this world, when I said "long lost family" I meant humans, and then he ran into other stuff. Hope I didn't given the wrong impression. Its hard trying to explain it, its easier to understand if you know the whole thing, but I have a hard time talking a lot about it, even my brother(who's my confident) doesn't have a very good grasp of it.
Nainika: @Warhorse the one I’m creating
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse A mystery only to us, the readership? Otherwise, he doesn't sound like the kind of guy you hire to safeguard royalty.
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK Its a fantasy novel set in a world divided into four kingdoms, and there is a war going on between them. The plot focuses on a mysterious boy with a scarred face, who is the bodyguard of the prince and princess of one of the kingdoms. He ends up (reluctantly) going on an adventure to save the world, runs into long-lost family, dragons, werewolf-like creatures, etc., And of course the villian who gets taken down in the end. I've been working on it for about two years now, and it's not quite close to be finished. 😄
3 hours ago
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse How about a brief synopsis? If you don't mind me being nosey again.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse (I refresh a lot--no worries.)
Warhorse: I hate this reply system.
Warhorse: @Warhorse My dad is always asking to read some, but its just not ready, or I'm not ready. Its hard to tell.
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK Good grief, not likely, I don't think it'll ever be a best seller, but its a fun process to write it.
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK Yep, bananas sure don't last long!
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse And now you're writing the great American novel?
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK Thank you, the picture doesn't really show it as well with the angle and lighting, but its easier for me to spot as I'm always very critical of my own work. Force of habit.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse On another occasion, someone asked me if I'd like a frozen banana. My immediate response was politely declining the offer, but then I realized I might like a regular banana LATER, so I accepted.
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK That's pretty funny, and I'll agree, perspective is very important. Just ask an artist.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse Before I forget, your horse wallhanging looks amazing (I know you don't think so, but even knowing there was a goof, my eye couldn't detect it).
Warhorse: @Nainika A published pattern or one you're creating?
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse It's all about perspective. For instance, whenever someone asks me if I have a poncho, I tell them "not yet." Because I *do* have a blanket and some scissors. 👍
3 hours ago
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse Ah, nobody likes Monday. Just trying to offer some perspective, if it helps anyone.
Nainika: Does anyone know how to delete a color in a pattern
3 hours ago
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK A few chapters of a story that I'm writing that is.
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK My bad, you got me with the Monday/Tuesday thing. 😜 Yeah, I've got some things I'm planning on finishing today: a bracelet & keychain, a book known as Albrek's Tomb (Adventurers Wanted Series), and a few chapters of my own story.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse Nothing to do today?
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK I'm not quite sure what you mean.
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse What has to be done on this Monday ("Tuesday Eve," if that helps)?
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK 12 hour time zone difference, just before 8:30 AM here. Lol, yes, I had my coffee ☕
4 hours ago
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse A few minutes before 8:30 (PM). You're fully caffeinated?
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK Yes, still morning here alright, what time of day for you?
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse A bit late on my part, but good morning to you as well (pretty sure it's still morning where you are).
Warhorse: Good morning.
Nainika: @blackcat79 which mountain?
blackcat79: @bkornre I’m good! Tired after the behemoth of a hike I did yesterday lol
12 hours ago
Nainika: @Funguy25 what could be wrong?
Funguy25: Past experiences
Funguy25: Just my past
Nainika: @Funguy25 why
Funguy25: Whoa sounds nice but hectic
Nainika: @Funguy25 usually when I’m bored I try to reset my life by romanticizing it
17 hours ago
MidnightTH: @blackcat79 Eh… good I guess.😊
17 hours ago
bkornre: @blackcat79 I'm good, wbu?
bkornre: @MidnightTH, thank you so much! 😊
18 hours ago
karyn-smit: Wassup
blackcat79: Wow it’s been a while- how are you all?
Funguy25: Ok
GiuseppeK: @Funguy25 Gettin' cozy with a big list of his "Deep Thoughts" might be a good way to kill some boredom.
Funguy25: Maybe I will
GiuseppeK: @Funguy25 Nah, that's a classic by Jack Handey. Check him out. 👍
20 hours ago
Funguy25: U r creative with these
Funguy25: 🤣
GiuseppeK: @Funguy25 It takes a big man to cry. But it takes a bigger man to laugh at him.
Funguy25: Son
Funguy25: 😭
GiuseppeK: @Funguy25 Whutever I FEEL like I wanna do, GAWSH.
Funguy25: What you guys doing
Funguy25: I am bored 😩
1 day, 4 hours ago
Nainika: @MidnightTH I know !!!😭😭😭😭😭😭
1 day, 4 hours ago
MidnightTH: @Nainika 😶…Noooooooooooooooo😫! Why did it go by so fast!!!!💔
1 day, 14 hours ago
Brazilgirl: I bought a recycled flush to use for my alphas to the base and it’s so freaking good. It’s way more steady than normal floss and it’s pretty cheap.
1 day, 14 hours ago
Brazilgirl: GUYS!
2 days, 1 hour ago
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK I'm going to be working on my other projects for a while, but I might be back at scattered intervals over the afternoon, but I'm usually on more in the mornings. With my coffee.
2 days, 1 hour ago
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse Pun very much intended. But, if you'll pardon me a few, I've got pups that need their walkies. Hope to chat more later, if you don't have anything more constructive to do.
2 days, 1 hour ago
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK We actually lived in down in southern Texas for a while, (where I've seen coyotes and roadrunners), and I have never seen a tumbleweed, though I have read about them.
2 days, 1 hour ago
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse Aaah, she's had her coffee! 👍
2 days, 1 hour ago
Warhorse: @GiuseppeK Pun intended? Crest is a brand of toothpaste, and if you drop it...
2 days, 1 hour ago
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse Professional daily familiarity would certainly be a factor. One of my all-time favorite bits of standard Jungle Cruise skipper routine is "Look at that, folks! You don't see that every day! But I do... Every day... Every twenty minutes..."
2 days, 1 hour ago
GiuseppeK: @Warhorse And had I known how awesome hitting tumbleweeds while driving could be (I'd been avoiding them until a situation forced me to take one on the grille), I'd've had so much more fun driving across Texas.
