The solution also isn't ironing it.
The bracelet was tied without shaped edges but with loose strings instead. This is also possible, but if you do that, you have to make sure to leave the strings loose and not pull the knots too tight, which is the opposite of what you said initially. You said to pull the knots tighter. This is exactly what caused the issue.
I would recommend only giving advice when you are asked for it and when you know what you are talking about. Feedback when it is not asked for can be hurtful.
