Heyyyy so my calculations below are actually kinda wrong 😭 I was missing only one bracket and it messed up the entire formula, which is so annoying, but hey, I've fixed it now. Thing is, I don't remember having that much string left over as well, so I suppose the old calculations don't hurt. I'll share the new calcualtions though. I noticed this mistake because I made my own bracelet string length claculator, based on Halokiwi's formula of course, and the results it was giving were different to my original claculations here! That's why we test and double check lol. Anyway, although I haven't tested these lengths, here they are (rounded up to the next cm):For a 17cm bracelet: String 1 & 12 - 104cm String 2 - 122cm String 3 & 5 - 79cm String 4 & 11 - 134cm String 6 - 146cm String 7 - 92cm String 8 & 13 - 131cm String 9 - 110cm String 10 & 14 - 98cm I also have the calculations for a 14cm bracelet: String 1 & 12 - 85cm String 2 - 100cm String 3 & 5 - 65cm String 4 & 11 - 110cm String 6 - 120cm String 7 - 75cm String 8 & 13 - 108cm String 9 - 90cm String 10 & 14 - 80cm So overall, not too different, but I thought I'd share anyway. The first part of the claculation was correct (45+percentage of knots, where percentage of knots is (# of knots/# of rows)X100), it was just when I multiplied by 17/14 (desired bracelet length/14), I messed up putting the brackets in properly. This still includes the 20cm, for 10cm either side to create ties. Hope this helps! 🙂 |

I made this pattern again only this time using the formula created by @halokiwi to calculate the string lengths. I calculated for a 17cm bracelet however I ended up stopping at 15.5cm (leading to 6 full repeats of this pattern). These are the lengths of string I used:String 1 & 12 - 94cm String 2 - 112cm String 3 & 5 - 70cm String 4 & 11 - 124cm String 6 - 136cm String 7 - 82cm String 8 & 13 - 197cm String 9 - 100cm String 10 & 14 - 88cm which includes 20cm, for 10cm either side to create ties. However, I must’ve miscalculated for String 8 & 13 because they came out way longer than needed, about 80cm in excess for the both. So for those two, I recommend using about 117cm. In fact, recalculating, string 8 & 13 should be 121cm for a 17cm bracelet. My mistake was that I previously miscounted how many knots were made by these strings. Again, this is a fabulous formula so thank you very much @halokiwi! The tutorial is titled 'How to calculate string length in a normal pattern'! I hope this is helpful to whoever creates this pattern next 🙂 |

My strings ran out but I was able to add in more quite comfortably. I started with 36" strings but I'd probably use 45-50" especially for the A (white) strings!
