Basically, the first red forward diagonal (A1) is the longest thread and they decrease in length following rainbow order. Here are the lengths that have worked for me, using embroidery floss, according to the order at the top of the pattern, in inches: A1 - 54 B1 - 51 E1 - 15 C1 - 49 F1 - 18 D1 - 47 E2 - 22 E3 - 45 D2 - 26 F2 - 40 C2 - 30 A2 - 38 B2 - 32 Note that E1 never makes any knots, which is why it's the shortest.
