I think of friendship bracelets as if they are cursed artifacts that, as long as they stay on their wrist, bind the people wearing them into being friends with me. I always tie them in a way that they cannot be easily taken off and when they inevitably fail, renew this contract by spending hours playing with strings again, as a handcrafted gift can never be politely rejected and they will wear them.
