@HHickey86 it's a 1212 pattern (a pattern with only or mainly fb and bf knots). They're not really suitable for segment-knotting, but they are perfect for knotting row by row as you figured out.

This pattern turned out cute, but it was a bit of a headache to follow. I ended up having an easier time going line by line instead of knotting in sections. Make sure your outside green border strings are substantially longer than the rest of the strings. This is one of those patterns that doesn't use strings evenly, but it isn't immediately obvious looking at the pattern at a glance.
