Heyyyy so my calculations below are actually kinda wrong 😭 I was missing only one bracket and it messed up the entire formula, which is so annoying, but hey, I've fixed it now. Thing is, I don't remember having that much string left over as well, so I suppose the old calculations don't hurt. I'll share the new calcualtions though. I noticed this mistake because I made my own bracelet string length claculator, based on Halokiwi's formula of course, and the results it was giving were different to my original claculations here! That's why we test and double check lol. Anyway, although I haven't tested these lengths, here they are (rounded up to the next cm): To make a 17cm bracelet: String 1 & 10 - 116cm String 2 - 81cm String 3 - 99cm String 4 & 8 - 118cm String 5 - 116cm Sting 6 - 99cm String 7 - 133cm String 9 - 99cm And for the 14cm bracelet: String 1 & 10 - 95cm String 2 - 67cm String 3 - 81cm String 4 & 8 - 97cm String 5 - 95cm Sting 6 - 81cm String 7 - 110cm String 9 - 81cm So overall, not too different, but I thought I'd share anyway. The first part of the claculation was correct (45+percentage of nots, where percentage of knots is (# of knots/# of rows)X100), it was just when I multiplied by 17/14 (desired bracelet length/14), I messed up putting the brackets in properly. This still includes the 20cm, for 10cm either side to create ties. Hope this helps! 🙂
To make a 17cm bracelet, these are the lengths of the strings I used: String 1 & 10 - 105cm String 2 - 71cm String 3 - 93cm String 4 & 8 - 108cm String 5 - 106cm Sting 6 - 89cm String 7 - 123cm String 9 - 91cm This includes 20cm, for 10cm either side to create ties. For string 2, I recommend using 10-15cm more (so 81-85cm) because it's the only one that I found running a bit short. This was made using the formula created by @halokiwi so many thanks to them because this was fantastic and except for string 2 (which was probably due to my own mistake) was perfect! I also calculated for a 14cm bracelet however didn't make it, but I'll share the string lengths regardless, though I don't know if it's accurate: String 1 & 10 - 95cm String 2 - 65cm String 3 - 85cm String 4 & 8 - 97cm String 5 - 95cm Sting 6 - 81cm String 7 - 110cm String 9 - 83cm The tutorial is titled 'How to calculate string length in a normal pattern'! I hope this is helpful to whoever creates this pattern next 🙂
