By the way, because the “background” strings are also white, you can use the triangle ends technique where the white borders are on the holes. This way you don’t get an “extra” layer of white knots in your holes. To get the nice corners on the inside of the inner square hole I just did a regular knot that didn’t include all the background strings at the corners where u need to “change direction” in the square. This is because if you try to use all the background strings like you would in normal triangle ends it will form more of a curve, not a right angle.
