@Bercia To make an average length finished bracelet (about 7 inches long for the part containing the pattern), plus some extra length for the loop and/or ties at the ends, at least 3 feet (1 meter) per string is recommended. If you plan to start your bracelet with a loop at the top, and the pattern contains pairs of same-colored strings (like this pattern does), you can measure & cut a double-length string for each pair of matching-color strings used in the pattern. For a double-length string, I'd suggest cutting it to at least 6 and a half feet (2 meters) in length. Then you'll fold each of these double-length strings in half, and use the folding point as the place where you'll form the loop and begin knotting your strings according to the pattern. If you're a beginner to making friendship bracelets like these, I encourage you to watch the two video tutorials found at the top of each pattern diagram ("How to Make Knots" and "How to Make Patterns"). They are enormously helpful in guiding you through the basic techniques you need to learn in order to follow pattern diagrams and tie the necessary types of knots to successfully create friendship bracelets like the ones found on this website!
