I've seen my patterns on pintrest and now tik tok, and don't know how to feel. I am happy that they are on something like Pinterest cause that's how I discovered this website and they also often link back to here or credit the pattern through the number. However, I just got a tik tok of crochet tapestry patterns on my fyp and 3 of my patterns were on there without credit. I know that with a website like this and the internet being credited is something that doesn't often happen, but how do you feel?

I looked through the person's tik tok page, and it looks like they are all bracelet book patterns, all without any credit....

When sharing a braceletbook pattern, it must be clear that it is from braceletbook. Ideally the pattern number should also be mentioned to make the original pattern easier to find but that's no requirement.

Items made from patterns can be shared without crediting braceletbook or the specific pattern number.

If you find someone sharing your patterns without crediting braceletbook or you, you can always let them know that they should give proper credit. You can also let us moderators know so we can let other affected users know or take other actions. It's especially relevant if you see braceletbook patterns being sold on etsy or other platforms.

Unfortunately people seem to think that since it’s on Pinterest they can just share the pattern despite it doesn’t have credit to the author in the first place. The sad thing is many if not most alphas on this site are either stolen to be put on Pinterest or stolen from Pinterest to post on here. The other thing that bother me is the amount of people posting creations from the patterns without looking for the origin. In crochet crediting pattern creators is the normal or at bare minimum the name of the pattern/where to find it. In bracelet making and bead art (sometimes also cross stitch) most people do not credit their sources and just assume Pinterest has it therefore we can share the pattern from pattern without recognizing someone created it. Many bracelet makers on social media fail to credit the source of their creations, even if the source is free you need to reference it. The more we speak up and point it out the better. We are not AI and put effort into our work which deserves credit.

Also I personally think any creations made from a pattern should be cited in order to credit the creator and let others add their own versions, especially when it is a public pattern that is free.
