What are some of your hot takes when it comes to bracelet making, cross stitch and/or crochet?

i'll start: All patterns have to be readable without context. If a pattern can't be understood without being told (I.e it just looks like a blob of colors), i will not make the pattern.

Bookmarks are beautiful, but they're not worth making to sell because they take a long time and are relatively cheap

Michael's is for the casual crafter. 🙄Joann Fabric was for people who lived and died by the skein. 😢 |

There should be a uniform thread size because oml it’s so annoying when you get new string and realize that it doesn’t fit any other the rest (especially when you get MORE bracelet string as a present because obviously people don’t know what size string you use lol) It’s incredibly irritating to realize that rather than a huge collection of string you have thirty individual batches that need to be used separately 😭😭

Teardrop loops are overrated and don't look that good. (unless with a ʍ-shaped start)Sparkly string is only worth the hassle if it's for the background, where it would actually be perceptible. I hate that one Spiderman bracelet. It's friggin everywhere, I just hate it with all my soul... 🥀 And my biggest hot take: Advising an adult to sell their knotted bracelets is plain insulting. I get it why a kid might be happy with 15 dollars per sold bracelet, but as an adult with bills to pay I'm not okay pricing my time and handicraft for like $3 an hour. |

i'm sorry, but I find it really annoying when i open the forum and one person is everywhere. I get that they mean to be helpful, i really do, but it's one of my biggest pet peeves.also, i think dmc is kind of overrated. it costs three times more than anything else, and even though it's great quality, i've got better things to do with my money. |

@clean oof that dmc is 🔥 hot 🔥For bracelet making/knotting or staring out/trying a craft using non dmc/off brand thread is a great option. I however cross stitch, so DMC is the best option for me. DMC is reliable in colors and I know how it will act, so I will pay for that "quality". |

@silentgirl i totally get it! i've met people who embroider or cross stitch and they prefer dmc, but since i only make bracelets there isn't that much of a need for me.

Ok I don't have very many but here we go:First off I'm a teenage girl and like to sell my bracelets at craft fairs. #1 My biggest hot take is when I see adults buy a $300 wooden lawn gnome that will end up rotting away in a year (I know this because I bought one years ago with my money) and quote "can't afford" a $2 chinese swirl that can last for almost 5 years. 🤔 😢 #2 I hate it when people on braceletbook don't accept friend requests even though they're online all the time. Like I've been messaging you all day why won't you accept the request already? (I kind of get it but still a big pet peeve of mine) 😐 🤨 |
