My mom taught me how to make a candy stripe bracelet when I was about seven, but I only got into bracelets when I was ten. I think that 12 is a great age to start at 👍

I would start her off with a chevron so she can learn both knots

Then teach her how to read a pattern, and teach her the other 2 knots!!

Knotting is a fine motor skill. As long as the child can reliably write and tie shoelaces independently I would think they’d have no problem making bracelets. About 6-7 yo would probably be the minimum age I’d recommend. I’ve taught 4th graders easily (9yo) to do simple knots. I personally was 12.5 when I started. As some other members mentioned, it’s best to start with simple normal patterns and teach them pattern reading if they stay interested. I think bracelets 5-10 strings thick are best for beginners.

I started around middle of 12 yrs old, and my first bracelet was actually an 8-stringer, she should be able to do this easily, although, as giussepek stated , I too, do not own a phone, but I don't think it really makes a difference, also, at 13 (almost)yrs of age I can already make any size normal, (biggest I've made being a 24-stringer), shaped bracelets, and am currently also learning crochet, easily read any pattern, and can understand, and (probably)make alphas, so this shouldn't be a problem, try to encourage her along the way and just watch her get more and more interested along the way 🙂

I started when I was eight… -Craftee my older sister and our neighbor started making them when I was five and when I was around eight they taught me, but any age is great 👍 start young and you’ll be an expert be the time you 15!

@SukiSnicks I am 16 and I love to make these types of bracelets, I started making them when I was 13, I followed video tutorials and quickly managed to make pretty nice bracelets just by looking at the pattern, I usually start with a difficult thing when I try something new, my first bracelet was a Greek wave pattern, so I can't help in that area but I teached my friend how to make these in a day, we did a basic chevron, I had one for demonstration and she had one for herself, I answered the questions she asked and helped her where she got stuck.

So it's not that hard to teach someone how to make it, just choose an easy pattern and slowly show them step by step 🫶🏼🫶🏼
