Hi guys,

does anyone here work with DMC color charts? I saw that many people organize their threads in boxes on bobbins, so the color order must follow a special color chart?
I found one with only 427 (if I didn't miscount) - 150-169 are missing, but some others too that I couldn't find.
But on the DMC website there is a new chart, because in 2017 they started with new colors - 1-35.
In this new chart are 20 categories, in the one I found (google pics) are 18. And the order within these categories is about the same, but starting with cat5 it goes like 5=5+6, 6=6+7, sometimes there are 2 or more categories in one, the old 13 is the new 15, so in the new chart are 2 categories more and the order is different. Some colors are picked out and filled in completely somewhere else. It's a bit of a new chaos.
I have been working with the old one now for some weeks and I kind of like the old one better.

So, anybody here who also works with these charts? The little Monk in me... ๐Ÿ˜‚

And does someone know what the little squares underneath the numbers in the original table mean? Someone gave me a link some weeks ago, but this is not explained there: https://www.thread-bare.com/blog/how-to-read-thread-color-card

It's which lines of thread this colour is available in.

Art 117 - 6 Strand Embroidery Floss
Art 115 - Pearl Cotton No 3 weight
Art 115 - Pearl Cotton No 5 weight
Art 116 - Pearl Cotton No 5 weight
Art 116 - Pearl Cotton No 8 weight
Art 116 - Pearl Cotton No 12 weight

There are six squares. If the square is coloured in, it is available in the line of thread. The lines of thread are listed on top.

If I remember correctly, this was explained to you in the thread that you are referencing

I cannot read the numbers on top properly (there are 6 numbers at the top), but I think it might refer to different products this colour is available in. No quarantee that this is correct.

Looked up instructions on how to read the DMC color cards. Halokiwi was basically right.

The Monk inside of me hates that there are several versions of the DMC color charts, so I compared version 1 and version 2 (version 3 is with the new numbers 1-35, as I don't have them, I won't compare this). For v1 and v2 I made a PDF.
To all of you who is interested, you are welcome to download this. The link is available for 1 week: https://www.filemail.com/d/yyqfaiinooygdev
