How do you attatch clips onto both sides of your bracelet as an end result of a cat collar?? (not crimp ends)

I can only think of two ways, which would be to either sew them somehow on at the end. Or at the beginning, fold the strings in half, thread the loop at the top through the slit of the "female" slide of the clip, the tails on to the "male" side of the clip...
