Does anybody forget books after they read them?

Like I'll read a book, love it, and then forget most of what happens in it after a month. Granted, I usually read multiple books but how are some people just able to quote books long after they've read it? Am I not reading it deeply enough, or is it just because my memory is bad lol? I dunno, does this happen to any of y'all?

this happens to me too! i have no idea why, i don’t feel like i don’t read well enough, i think it just happens.

i do it too!! i think in some respects it’s a good thing because it means i can reread books many times when i’m running low

Yes! I have a terrible memory haha. When I’m reading a bunch of different books, I’ll love them but then a couple months later, I don’t remember why I loved them
