Macrame crafts w embroidery floss?

Lol so I am aware that these bracelets are technically macrame but does anyone know if embroidery floss works for making macrame crafts meant for cotton/polyester cords? I attempted to do a leaf this one time and maybe I wasn't really familiar w/ typical macrame knots, but the few knots that I'd made looked wonky.
