@penguins06 Honestly I’d just start reaching out to different barns, trainers, and ranches to see if they need volunteers! 🐴If you weren’t born into horses like I wasn’t, it can be harder to get started, but volunteering is a great way to learn. You can help clean pens, feed, groom, and do other barn work in exchange for riding lessons That’s actually how I got started. My mom put a post on Facebook asking if anyone needed someone to shadow them and help around the barn in exchange for lessons. I don’t have the money to pay for a trainer, so I work in exchange for my riding lessons. I’d just reach out to different places and see if anyone is willing to take you on and teach you! You gotta start somewhere! |

@penguins06 this is a great place to ask as We all are into horses, I’m the only one in my family that rides and I started about 3-4 years ago I got my first horse Rosie (she wasn’t broke) but I did lessons and it helped me lots I also did lessons with another horse before that, then I got a pony Charlie and he really helped me gain confidence and I sold both of them and got my first barrel horse lulu and learned so much about barrel racing and then I got a prospect called Mac and now I’m training him I’ve had Mac and lulu for a year now so I’m still learning so much every day I recommend lessons!!!

@penguins06 I can ride but I haven't actually ridden in six years, moved away from the horses, but I'm still really into them. I don't know how one would go about getting started, but I do know a lot about horses in general as well as a few equine sports.Are you just interested in riding as a past time or do you hope to get serious with it and someday get involved in competition? |

@Warhorse i’d say as a past time for now. i’ve always loved horses growing up, even though i’ve always seen them around my area and never had the confidence to even ride them. hopefully later this month (if my car doesn’t give me problems) i can start riding or volunteer or just help out. guess this makes me a baby cowboy!
