hi! so i know it's summer break but what's the weirdest thing you've done in school?i'll start: one time i brought a bindle (google it if you don't know what i'm talking about) to school as my backpack and the photo's in my yearbook. i've also screamed the lyrics to "riptide" by vance joy to some random kid i've never seen in my life |

In my earth science class at the end of last year we took turns getting vacuum sealed into a large plastic bag by our teacher, so that was an experience lol

A bindle...? I hope you committed fully to the schtick and arrived to school by hopping off a boxcar, and then sharing a pack of Good & Plenty with your peers. During my first semester at university, one of the required "common core" classes to get checked off the docket involved partnering up with a classmate in order to hold one's own in a debate that was scheduled to last the duration of a period. It was starting to get close to the end of the semester, and the professor inquired of one young lady if she would be ready to get hers over with before the weekend, as she couldn't postpone much longer. She was clearly flustered and seemed on the verge of breaking down: her partner hadn't been coming to class (I suppose, in retrospect, that was a sign she was smarter than the rest of us...), and didn't feel up to going it alone. Although my debate was long over and done with (and, if I do say so myself, I made mincemeat out of the other team), I guess I just have a soft spot for damsels in distress. In order to bring some much needed levity to the awkward situation, I calmly stood up from my seat in the back of room, melodramatically got down on one knee, and asked if she, someone with whom I've never directly interacted, would accept me as her new partner. It was all settled on the spot. I then turned to our scheduled opposition, and in my best Ben Stiller from DODGEBALL impression, advised them to bring their A-game. 😎 Then, it suddenly occurred to me to ask my new partner what the topic of our debate was, and which side we were on... 🤔 To most, this was probably weird in the extreme: why would anyone with an already full academic plate volunteer for extra work, especially when it wasn't going to give me anything resembling extra credit? Always had a soft spot for damsels in distress: for the folks who understand, no explanation necessary. For folks who don't? No explanation would ever suffice. |

@blackcat79 Please understand, in no way was I being flippant. I'm fully aware of the sheer number of young women, having grown up with Bratz, who are now seeking potentially dangerous plastic surgery such as cranial implants. It's absolutely heartbreaking that toy manufacturers never learned the lessons of Barbie, and now a whole new generation is struggling with such unrealistic body imagine standards: convincing girls that in order to be beautiful, they have to have a head that's three times the size of their torso.hashbrown #AllHeadSizesAreBeautiful |
