It’s been really cool seeing the shift in concert culture in regards to bracelets/freebies over the past couple of years.

I remember being way young and being interested in Rave bracelet culture and the aspect of trading and sharing bracelets, fuse beads, etc etc and now seeing it shift into more mainstream concerts and events.

I have a big show I’m going to this year and I’ve been making and tying a bunch of themed bracelets to give out, and I know that normally it is Kandi/beaded bracelets but I have a bunch of thread and I would rather tie them.

Have you been to shows or events with trading?

I went to a ghost concert last year and gave out little cross stitch keychains. I got a bunch of bracelets and even some cool 3d printed charms. It's a super fun thing to do, but it does take a lot of time beforehand to get everything created, especially since cross stitch can take longer than traditional Kandi bracelets. Each keychain I made probably took 90 minutes in total to make, and I took about 6 months to make them all. I didn't count how many I made, but it was probably around 50-70.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for fun charms and beads to use for MCR themed bracelets for the concert

I actually used to make a bunch of kandi (mostly bags and big cuffs), but I haven't been to any concerts where it was present (I tend to stray towards the more artsy instrumental side of things so it makes sense). If I get to go to MCR this year I'll 100% bring some kandi though :}

I remember finding out about kandi/rave culture and getting my older sibling a huge rotating nyan cat cuff for christmas!

I went to a clairo concert last year and handed out some clairo themed singles, it was sososo fun seeing how people's faces lit up when I noticed they were looking and I asked if they wanted one! I haven't really had an experience with trading, but I enjoy giving them away!! 🙂
