I want to learn how to crochet SO BAD. I keep seeing all these cute crochet things pop up on my Pinterest, but I have not even the slightest clue how to start 😭 so for Christmas, I’d like Crocheting needle(s?) (idk if you need different sizes lol), and yarn to start me off with making things

@just_mere they are called crochet hooks. There are many different sizes that go with the yarn's weight. I learned how to crochet on yt but that doesn't work for everyone. Then once you have the basics, there are so many crochet tutorials on YouTube as well.

@Eaglefeath tysm 🙏 I’m quite lost right now on it all but the want to make cute things will be my motivation for this 😂 YouTube will definitely be my friend for this. Do you have any advice on what weight of yarn I should start with, and what crochet hooks would work best with it?

@just_mere I would start with a bright colored yarn so that you can see the stitches. As for the weight, I would start with a weight 4 yarn. It's not too big, or too small. To find the weight of the yarn, you want to look at the label on it, and then you will see a picture of the yarn, and it will have a number on it. Then you want to make sure it says "4" on it. For the hook size, I would say either a 4mm hook or a 5mm hook. The measurements are written on the hook. Also, you will want a yarn needle to weave in all of your ends when you finish a project. I hope this helps you with your crochet. 😊

@Eaglefeath genuinely thank you so much 🙏 I’ve been having a lot of trouble finding info on just how to start out with basic stuff, and all the “beginner” tutorials go quite fast for me. I’ll let you know how it goes when I get the materials and get the hang of it!

@BobTheCat_ Omg I’m so flattered- that was the first time I tried making earrings! I just had some old backings lying around and was really inspired by other earrings I had seen submitted under that particular pattern so I was like hmmmm- why not trial and error it! (There was definitely a lot of error in there lol, at one point I accidentally attached it backwards 😭) Thanks for the advice though, I really want to try and branch out into more things that you can do with bracelet making so I’ll be sure to check that tutorial out! Thank you so so much!! 😁
