Short version, I'll always be an '80s kid. I tend to have piano playlists (so many talented folks on YT) of the decade as my go-to for sounds whenever there aren't any podcasts to play or I'm too lazy to put on the language lessons. Lately, though, been listening to a lot of Spanish guitar/Arabic oud while making knots.

Suddenly remembering the last time I was Stateside, and the rental car had XM radio (I'm sure the tech won't impress anyone now, and it was probably bordering on laughably obsolete even then). Long drives brought into sharp relief just how much MTV changed the game when it debuted. Typically had the dial set to '80s on 8 (unless I *really* couldn't stand the song, in which case I'd pay a visit to '70s on 7), and whenever they'd do a countdown of the top ten songs for that particular day in any year from 1980-1982, one could be forgiven for mistaking them for '70s tunes. After MTV, for better or for worse, there was just no going back...

Not a big concert guy, and the only act I ever went out of my way to hear live was Manowar. They just so happened to be playing Munich while I was doing some annual training down in Bavaria, and it got an otherwise usually well-behaved kid to sneak out on a school night to catch the show. 🤘
