From your average spiral staircases to complex alpha with a color change almost every knot, there is a wide range of bracelets. Everyone, from beginner to moderator to administrator, please comment how you started making bracelets. I bet 90% started with Chinese staircases at summer camp, just like me. I was pretty young when I started, then I picked it up from just staircases and braids to finding written tutorials on the internet (for some reason I didn’t trust videos lol)…then I learned how to read patterns and *dIscOvErEd* Masha Knots, and the rest is history! How about you guys? 😄

I started when my sister gave me a bracelet that was too small for her. Then I started making fishtails and braids and now I’m making patterns from here.

I started making just macrame bracelets when I was about 5 years old because my older sisters taught me how to make them. After a couple of years I started making more complex normals and learning how to read patterns from kinsey b’s tutorials. Then two years ago I discovered braceletbook and learned how to make alphas from Masha Knots tutorials.

My favorite ex got me started at a relatively late stage in life (early 30s). Much as I wish it could've been otherwise, she usually wasn't there to give me any other guidance, so had to figure out most of it on my own. It would've been a basic chevron, and her keyring at the time was a metal loop with all the hideous aborted previous efforts of mine until I got it right. More than just about anything else, I wish she could see the monster she'd created now. |

My aunt gave me a bracelet kit for my birthday when I was 8. The kit came with string, an instruction book, and a bracelet wheel thingy. It took me a whole two years to figure out how to make a candy stripe bracelet from that book!!! 😂 Looking at the book now I’m wondering why it took me so long to figure that out. When I made all the patterns in the book and got bored of them, I started looking for more patterns to make. That’s when I found braceletbook. And now I have been making bracelets, off and on, for about 6-7 years now. It’s become one of my favorite hobbies, but it doesn’t top reading!

I started when I was… 9 or so, so like a year ago, and I started with a zipper bracelet (like it’s just forward backward knots (and vice versa) onto base string but the knots are with two strings at a time, and then I did chevron and for some reason I can do up to 16 string patterns and I have NEVER EVER done a candy stripe? Idk why

I really wish I knew my exact story lol. But like every other kid, I learned the basic Chinese staircase, chevron, and candy stripe at camps. But I got really into Rainbow loom bracelets for a while, and stopped (as in, REALLLYYYY into them) making string ones. Discovered BraceletBook by some miracle (Pinterest I think?) and decided I needed to know everything I could possibly know and perfect my skills and become great ✨

Met my bff for life at a camp and she taught me how to make a Chinese staircase. (Still have my og lol) and then I fell in love with candy stripes in the middle of math class and have been trying new things ever since!

In summer 2023 I was watching summer 2019 Vsco era videos and I thought chevron bracelets looked super cool. My sister had old embroidery floss so over the next day or so I was attempting to master the chevron. Then after that I thought myself how to read patterns and it escalated from there.

When I was about 9 or 10, my mom showed me how to make a stripe bracelet. I didn't really understand it and left it at that. Then I somehow came across a Czech YouTuber and learned it all from her.

Started with chinese staircase and candystripes at summer camp, but they never came out good. I wanted to learn how to properly make bracelets, and I stumbled upon Braceletbook. I watched Mashaknots's videos, and 2 years later, here I am as a bracelet king, hoping to become a Modereator soon.

I started gymnastics and I was wearing a bracelet made out of rubber bands, my coach said that it was very nice. Then later on, my friend gave me a candy stripe bracelet, so I started making bracelets from Masha knots videos.
