It's funny how our perspective on things can change as we get older. Being accused of taking some sort of performance-enhancing drugs would've sounded insulting in my 20s, but genuinely feels kinds groovy these days (I'm sure those occasions aren't meant to be complimentary, but that's a "them" problem 😎 ).

One time after swimming there was this random old lady in the locker room and she told me i looked like a model. (we'll ignore the fact i'm barely above average height 😭) I find that complements from either people you are very close with but do not compliment you often or complete strangers (bonus points for old people or little kids) are the best. Honorable mention compliments are the one time my brother who fits into the first category told me that i was getting good at playing guitar, and when my dental hygienist who fits into the second told my baby-faced self i looked 1-2 years older than i was. (trust me, i look 1-2 years younger 😭) |
