normal patterns?

I create normal patterns and would love to make a beautiful design that I know someone is looking for. I work with a wide range of themes and—provided the concept isn't too strange or impossible—can create almost anything, as long as you aren't expecting overly complex designs. If you have ideas or want a specific pattern, I’d be happy to create it for you.

do you mind making a normal pattern based on an alpha? since i can't make alphas but their designs are so pretty.

I think I can do that; what design did you have in mind? I can't do alpha patterns myself either, but I agree with you that the designs are really beautiful.

Okay, I'm working on it—I'm going with the second option—but it might take a little while.

They should be quick and easy to do as 1212 patterns (normal patterns with only fb and bf knots). The colours of the strings alternate (abababababab...) with one colour being the background colour(s) and the other colour being the colour(s) of the letters. By using only fb and bf knots, each knot could be either colour a or b and the strings never switch position. This way you can easily "draw" your design similar to how you would draw an alpha pattern.

@halokiwi: do you mind making the first one? I really like that one and have been wanting to make it for a long time. I'm only asking because you said it seems easy. If your ok with it though.

@wakashaka I believe that both of your patterns would be significantly easier to tie as two tone alphas than tying them as 1212 normals or another type of normal.

Two tone alphas are the original method of tying alphas. You only need one leading string, so no colour switches. The knots of one colour are made with the leading string onto the base strings. The knots of the other colour are made with the base strings onto the leading string.

It also works for some multicolour patterns like the Iran pattern you want to tie. There you would use red, white and green basestrings and a black leading string.

Is there a particular reason why you said you can't do alphas?

Here is a video on tying two tone alphas:https://youtu.be/INZwXQkI3fQ?is=jCf1jU87F23NenD4

I can make the normal pattern for you if you are really sure you need it, but I think you would need to do the designing part so the text is legible because I cannot judge that. You would need to draw it into an alpha pattern grid, but rotated 45°. Ideally you would make it as small as possible.

@halokiwi: whenever I make an alpha it just doesn't look right. And I'm more comfortable with normals but I will definitely try to actually learn it rather than relying on normals.

I made one, but it wasn't accepted because the text was supposedly too hard to read. If I have to adjust it again, I’ll really have to start over from scratch. 🙁
