If you go to the website log into your account and in the top right hand corner there will be your profile click it once or if you are on desktop then hover over it there will be a drop dow menus with options like create pattern loves and todos click the create pattern choose whether you want to make a normal or an alpha

@Harriet Yes 👍You can only make patterns and variations on the site, not the app. Go to your avatar on the top menu bar, and there will be a drop down option for 'Create patterns'. This will take you to a page where you can make normal or alpha patterns.
