The create-a-pattern function for alphas is a bit easier since you can draw it and other things. I'm also trying to make patterns like #57823 for good luck charm looking things (ex: grod's photo). A tutorial on the normal pattern maker would be great for beginners like me.

Thank you.

There are three aspects of the Normal Generator; colors, string order and the knots.

Colors:
Each color represents a letter in the alphabet (more on string order).

String order:
You can add and subtract the number of string and colors used in this section of the generator. Let's say that 🔴 = a, 🟠 = b, 🟡 = c, 🟢 = d, 🔵 = e, and 🟣 =f. You can arrange the way the colors appear in the pattern, if the order was (abcdeffedcba) then the strings would appear as (🔴🟠🟡🟢🔵🟣).

Knots:
The most important part of the pattern.

Forward Knots are marked using (f).
Backward Knots are marked using (b)
Forward-Backward Knots are marked using (fb).
Backward-Forward Knots are marked using (bf).
Empty spaces are marked (0).
There has to always be a comma in-between each knot-marking, eg: (f,f,f)

From the string order is essential to the knots. Let's use the example string order, if row 1 is (f,f,f) and row 2 is (f,f) then the pattern would look like:

🔴🟡🔵
🔴🟡

Because 🔴 makes a forward knot onto 🟠, 🟡 makes a forward knot onto 🟢 and 🔵 makes a forward knot onto 🟣.

@DenyceC I think I'm getting it. How would I code a shaped normal like #57823 ? Mark the empty spaces as zero?
