How to make my alpha keychains more durable? (Less flimsy over time)

I noticed that when i make a brand new alpha keychain, it seems to hold up pretty well and keep its stiffness in the first couple days. But after time, after being exposed to the elements and all, they tend to get easily bendable and they stay that way and lose their shape, so they’ll crumple up and become really soft that they can no longer be keychains. Is there a way to make my keychains more durable and keep their shape?
