what’s wrong with my knotting tension?

I’ve been making bracelets for years and it wasn’t until the past year that something in my knitting changes and I can’t figure out what went wrong. The tension is consistent, but when I make alphas mine always end up being elongated. For example, if I make a circle it ends up looking like a really long oval. My knots are always wide and I don’t know how to fix it. It’s hard to explain but if you go to my profile there is a picture of a purple smiley face bracelet and you can see that instead of being round they are almost stretched sideways and it looks like an oval

It's normal that alphas stretch because knots are taller than wide.

You can use thicker base strings to prevent this. Maybe that's what you did in the past or you just didn't notice it was happening.
